Why donate to the Children’s Justice Center?
Statistics indicate that you may know, or be related to, a victim of child sexual abuse. One in four female children and one in six male children will experience sexual abuse during their childhood. Children can heal from most physical injuries caused by abuse, but emotional scars can last a lifetime. Immediate intervention by trained experts has demonstrated a remarkable improvement in the emotional adjustment of child victims. Unfortunately, some crimes against children may be debilitating. Children who witness murders or domestic violence may require long-term counseling to cope with the emotional devastation. The Children’s Justice Center serves a vital role in advocating for the best interests of children to ensure their protection, to promote justice, and link families with quality medical and counseling services.
There is never a charge for services at the Children’s Justice Center. This is made possible thanks to contributions from our community to support programming, child advocacy services, crisis intervention services, parent education materials, and specialized training for investigators. The program was established under statute, as a public/private partnership, receiving limited operational funds from the state legislature, and administered through the Attorney General’s Office Children’s Justice Division. All other operational monies, including Victim Services, professional training, utilities, supplies and other essential items are only obtained via grant and community donations.
We rely on community donation and support for our program. Your tax-deductible contributions are used wisely to help us in providing a safe, comfortable place for our children to share details about an experience that could possibly affect their lives forever. You can make the difference for a child who experiences that trauma.
